Song of the Day
This song was especially good for me today because it was kind of a rough day for various reasons. It's not necessarily an upper song, more like a plea to use love to fill the emptiness we create in our lives.
Quote of the Day
Kathleen Kelly: Why did you stop by again? I forget.
Joe Fox: I wanted to be your friend.
Kathleen Kelly: Oh.
Joe Fox. I knew it wasn't...possible. What can I say, sometimes a guy just wants the impossible.
Of course, this is from one of the best romantic comedies of all time, You've Got Mail. And I think what is wonderful about it is captured in this quote. Joe, knowing Kathleen is ShopGirl, pretends he doesn't so he can get to know her as a person before the romantic love complicates things. Because, like I talked about yesterday, romantic love can be pretty shallow (though most reading this blog will know my personal experience with romantic is limited aka none). So why would you want to base what could possibly be the most important relationship of your life on that? No. Joe Fox knew it should be based on friendship. Getting to know on another without the pressure and expectations of faulty romance. Getting to know people as people, and caring about who that person is.
Today's outfit
You can never go wrong with a psychadelic grandma shirt. Literal grandma shirt. Most of you know grandma clothes constitute at least half of my closet.
The Love Game
I finally purchased M&M's for this game. Though they didn't have Valentines ones, and that was a little disappointing, but I made up for it by getting dark chocolate! And I put them in a very special bowl, made for me by a dear friend, with love. Thus it is perfect for the love game.
Today some of the things that got me candy were.
- My sweet dance team, they had their first performance on a gym floor and did great.
- Supportive teachers who help me be a better teacher
- Working somewhere that choreographing is in the job description
- My family knowing when to leave me be
- Getting two books from the library that were on hold for me when I thought there would only be one there! (The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska, both by John Green)
- vlogbrothers videos. DFTBA
- These M&M's
How Others are Celebrating
Today I just saw Kelsey's celebration, and she did it by being grateful.
Day 2 of Valentines: I love the simple things in life. Bean burrito: check. Manual car: check. Having a job: check.
Another friend, Alan, talked about his love for his family. But I will refrain from putting the awesome picture of his family on here since I didn't ask permission. But it was lovely.
