Song of the day
Hooray for Love - Ella Fitzgerald
To listen to the Ella version go here or just buy it on iTunes, it's worth the 99 cents. Otherwise, here is a Hooray for love medley by two of the best ladies ever, Barbara and Judy.
One of the greatest things about this song is that it is celebrating the happy and sad side of love. Love takes you through up and downs, but if you didn't have the downs, would you ever appreciate the ups?
Quote of the day
"No. No no no, I don't want to kiss you. I just love you. When did who you want to kiss become the whole game? Since when is the person you want to kiss the only person you get to love? ... People act like it's the most important thing but come on. I mean, who you want to kiss and whether you kiss them? Those are important questions, I guess. But they're not that important. You know what's important? Who would you die for?"
A fairly edited quote from Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. Here's a hint, they don't say kiss.
I wanted to start off with that quote because it pretty much sums up to me what V-day and love is about. Romantic love, I mean come on, that's intensely shallow compared with for real love. So why devote a holiday to something shallow? Therefore I shall devote 14 days to its fullness, because one day just can't contain it. It simply isn't possible.
Today's Outfit
The Love Game
I haven't yet bought any M&Ms to fully play this game. But here are some things I would have written down if I had been playing.
- Subbing for Fremont choirs!
- All these songs (songs Fremont choirs happen to be singing and which I also sang. Bomb)
- My mom buying ingredients for my hot pink breakfast smoothies
- Coming home to find chocolates
- Holding my flipping precious new nephew, Caleb.
- Numb3rs
- Folk dance music
- The Fault in Our Stars waiting for me at the library.
- PAYDAY
How others are celebrating
Kelsey is celebrating the birth of One Direction's Harry Styles
Day 1 of Valentines: I love boy bands. Always have, always will. Current fav is One Direction. What better way to Celebrate the 1st day of Valentines than with this adorable man's birthday? Happy Birthday, Harry Styles! *fangirling over* Love song of the day: "Kiss You" by none other than One Direction :)
Christina is looking at origins of love.
There are all kinds of love. The love that originates from faith and hope is one of the best kinds. It's a deep and subtle kind of love. This day is dedicated to faith. I LOVE FAITH.
Rebecca is wearing AMAZING SHOES!
And Megan is rocking her pink skirt.
Are you celebrating the 14 days as well? Let me know what you're doing, because we're all in this together. Which reminds me, I think I'll watch High School Musical for my first day's movie of love.
