A sweaty prayer.

So, I may folk dance for approximately 9 hours a week, but you may hear me say "I haven't danced in so long", or "I really need/want to dance." This makes sense, it just doesn't seem to.

Folk dance is wonderful. It has been a great blessing to my life in many ways. I have made so many friends, met so many amazing people, had incredible opportunities, and learned a great deal. Not to mention kept in great shape. BUT, I grew up doing a very different kind of dance, a very expressive kind of dance.

I once took a master class from a woman named Suzy Miller (amazing, so amazing) who said that dance is a sweaty prayer. So most of the time, folk dance and dance are two separate things to me. Folk dance is when I represent other people, a wonderful opportunity that has given me greater understanding in many areas of my life.

But dance. Dance is when I express myself.

THIS is dance. (Excuse the fact that I haven't danced in about 5 years, since leaving my studio in Plain City)

PS - Not looking for compliments or trying to promote myself. I'm just revealing something on my mind. And in my limbs. :)
